HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Gov. Ned Lamont (D-Conn.) announced Monday that his administration will be providing $3 million in emergency state funding to Connecticut Foodshare to help residents expected to lose food stamp benefits during the government shutdown.

A release from the governor's office said that effective Nov. 1, no new Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be distributed by the federal government, impacting 360,000 Connecticut residents. The Trump Administration announced Friday that the federal government would not reimburse states that cover SNAP costs themselves.
