NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — The Great Plains Food Bank is rolling out an emergency campaign in preparation for the SNAP benefit pause set to take effect on November 1.

If the shutdown continues into November, nationwide Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will pause at the start of the month. As previously reported by KX, 57,199 North Dakotans rely on SNAP benefits, totaling nearly $9.83 million in aid.

The Great Plains Food Bank is launching a campaign to assist families across North Dakota and parts of Minnesota, hoping to raise enough funds to distribute an additional one million pounds of food to meet the surge in demand that's expected to come when SNAP benefits are frozen.
