BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Great Plains Food Bank has started an emergency fundraising campaign in response to the news that SNAP Benefits won’t be continued in November if the government shutdown continues.
Last week, the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services announced that SNAP benefits would be paused if the Government Shutdown continues into November.
The food bank distributes resources to 196 partners and food pantries throughout the state, and says that without government programs helping feed the hungry, its resources will be spread thin.
“We are kind of in emergency response mode right now. We are trying to raise an additional one million pounds of food,” said Grace Renner, Donor Relations Officer for Great Plains Food Bank.
They hope to raise half a million dollars
