EVERETT — Everett Fire Department is investigating a playground fire that destroyed the main play structure at Wiggums Hollow Park on Monday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m. Monday, firefighters responded to multiple 911 calls that reported seeing black smoke at 2808 10th Street from several blocks away, according to an Everett Fire Department press release. Units arrived at the scene to find that the main playground structure was fully engulfed in flames.

The main equipment was a complete loss, according to Everett Fire Department spokesperson Rachael Doniger.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Currently, no evidence links this fire to other incidents, the release said.
