ONEONTA, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - Law enforcement was joined by local officials on Monday as they celebrated the life of a New York State Trooper who died in the line of duty.

On Monday, New York State Troopers dedicated a portion of State Route 23 to Jill Mattice.

Mattice was killed on January 20, 2010, after leaving her job as a school resource officer with the Unadilla Valley School District. While traveling down Route 23 in the Town of Morris, her patrol vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer. She was 31 years old.

Mattice's father Jeff Farrar traveled from the Buffalo area to attend the dedication ceremony. He says he is filled with gratitude.
