LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Police Department is investigating a reported accidental shooting at the Walmart Supercenter on Fayetteville Road in Lumberton.

At approximately 4:26 p.m. Monday, an officer working off-duty security at the store reported that a gunshot had been fired inside the store.

Information provided to the officer led him to a vehicle seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered a male occupant suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.
