WACO, Texas (KWTX)— A traffic stop on Interstate 35 near Waco led to human smuggling and forgery charges after Texas Department of Public Safety officer discovered fake identification and suspected illegal transportation, according to an affidavit.
An officer stopped a red Toyota Corolla around 4:26 p.m. Oct. 23 near mile marker 341 for following too closely and speeding 83 mph in a 75 mph zone, authorities say.
According to court documents, the driver, Jose Urdaneta-Angarita, 22, was traveling with two passengers when the officer detected the smell of marijuana during the traffic stop. Urdaneta-Angarita told the deputy that the back seat passenger had marijuana.
