Alaska’s Natural Resources Commissioner, John Boyle, has stepped down, and so far, no reason has been given for his departure.

He’s the third member of Governor Dunleavy’s cabinet to leave in recent months, following Adam Crum and Treg Taylor, who both resigned and later announced plans to run for governor.

It’s not yet clear if Boyle has similar political plans.

Governor Dunleavy has named John Crowther as the new acting Natural Resources Commissioner.

Crowther joined the department in 2012 and most recently served as deputy commissioner, overseeing the oil and gas, project permitting, and geological survey divisions.
