CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Leaders from Horry Georgetown Technical College and Coastal Carolina University announced Monday a new transfer program for students pursuing criminal justice degrees.

The agreement allows students to exchange up to 76 hours beginning this fall. It's a deal that's been in the works for several years, and will benefit from a $10,000 donation by Sheriff's Foundation of Horry County.

“This program is going to make a big difference. Whereas before, when folks completed their two-year degree, they had to go somewhere else. Now we can do it at home. We can do it here in the community," Sheriff Phillip Thompon said.
