GALVESTON, Texas — Galveston police are working to identify a man they said tried to abduct a teenager while she was walking to school Monday morning.
It happened near Galveston's East End just before 7 a.m.
Police said the 13-year-old girl told them that she left her family's apartment and was walking along 28th Street on her way to Central Middle School when she heard footsteps approaching her from behind.
The girl told police that a man came up from behind her and grabbed her. She said she fought with the man and bit him twice. She said she was able to break free and ran straight to school, where she told officials what happened. Teachers at the school called the police after hearing the student's story.
The teen wasn't physically injured in the incident.
