LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A man shot by Louisville Metro police overnight has died from his injuries while the woman who relatives say was shot by that man is in the hospital fighting for her life.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. in the 5500 block of Ridgecrest Road. A woman had been shot.

WAVE News spoke with the victim’s family off-camera. They identified the woman as Tiffany Reiner. Her son said he was standing right by his mom when she got shot in the head.

The son explained they were celebrating his 20th birthday Sunday night, and his family was hosting a birthday party for him at the home on Ridgecrest Road.

He remembered at one point one of his friends started arguing with his mother and then shot her in the head.
