SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Hurricane Melissa is expected to hit Jamaica worse than anything the country has seen in decades.
“We’ve started every press conference we’ve had the chance to speak by simply saying it’s not time to panic, but time to prepare. The time for preparation is all but over; the time now is to listen to instructions,” Matthew Samuda, the Jamaican Minister of Water, Environment, and Climate Change, said.
This Wednesday, First Reformed Church of Sioux Falls is hosting a Chili Fest from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm to help raise funds for a trip to Jamaica that many people take each year to build houses for those who are either physically or mentally disabled.
The event comes at no charge, but donations are much appreciated.
