MONONA, Wis. (WKOW) -- A 54-year-old Madison man was arrested Sunday night after Monona police found illegal drugs and a concealed weapon during a traffic stop.
At around 11:30 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle swerving in its lane and not maintaining a consistent speed. The vehicle also had an obstructed rear license plate. A check of the registration revealed that the owner had an outstanding warrant.
According to a police release, when contacted, the driver, Jeffrey D. Skidmore, 54, appeared nervous and admitted to driving with a revoked license. Officers learned Skidmore had a significant drug history, including a recent arrest, and was on probation. A K9 from the Fitchburg Police Department was called to the scene and gave a positive alert on the vehicle, providing probable cause
