Temperatures across Galveston County are expected to dip into the low 50s — and possibly the upper 40s inland — later this week as a fall cold front moves through. But cooler conditions and some recent spotty rain in the county doesn’t mean wildfire risks have passed.
A burn ban, enacted by County Judge Mark Henry Oct. 21, still is in effect.
Drought conditions continue to keep grass and brush dangerously dry. Even with recent spotty rainfall, outdoor burning of yard debris, trash and other materials still is prohibited, authorities said.
