TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol arrested a 53-year-old man from Twentynine Palms following a detailed investigation into child sexual abuse material.

Authorities say that the arrest comes after months of collaborative work by various CHP units.

The CHP's Computer Crimes Investigation Unit (CCIU) began the investigation in June 2024. They identified an Internet Protocol (IP) address linked to significant CSAM downloads.

Throughout the investigation, CHP investigators obtained more than 300 gigabytes of suspected CSAM that was linked back to the suspect, marking one of the largest known collections in California.
