ALPA India objected to the increase in pilots' flying duty time limit

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has temporarily increased the flying duty time limit for Boeing 787 pilots from 10 hours to 10.5 hours, and the Flight Duty Period (FDP) from 13 to 14 hours, citing rerouting issues caused by Pakistan’s airspace closure.

The change, effective from October 26, 2025, to March 31, 2026, is expected to benefit airlines operating long-haul routes by reducing the need for three-pilot crews, thereby cutting costs.
