Punjab Cabinet has today approved the construction of stilt-plus-four floors in all new constructions coming up in urban areas, in the newly launched sectors.

Those having minimum 250 square yards of plot can go in for stilt-plus-four floors of construction, with the approval of Punjab Unified Building Rules, 2025, by the Council of Minister Bhagwant Mann in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today. This will be allowed only in the licenced colonies and sectors.

Under the rules, quite similar to what has been approved by the neighbouring state of Haryana, the permissible height of residential buildings has been increased from 17 metres to 21 metres.
