UPDATE AS OF OCTOBER 27, 2025, at 11:45 A.M. — CHICO, Calif. — The Chico Police Department is seeking the public's help with an ongoing investigation into a shooting that occurred on Sunday. Gunshots were reported around 4:45 a.m. near Main and 7th Streets in downtown Chico, hitting the window of Helen’s Donut Nook.

Police officials stated that on Sunday morning, officers discovered two bullet holes in the windows of the staple donut shop. Authorities believe the incident was related to an altercation near Main and East 9th Streets and that the donut shop was not specifically targeted.

The investigation is still active, and the police are urging anyone with information to contact them at (530) 897-4911, referencing case #25-007536.
