COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus City Council is giving the green light to a project aimed at making Mount Vernon Avenue safer for drivers and pedestrians.
"This has long been in the works in conjunction with the community. This has been something that the community has been asking for, for a long time," said Columbus City Councilmember Lourdes Barroso de Padilla
Adding separated bike lanes, concrete medians and bump-outs to shorten crossing distances are among the planned improvements along Mount Vernon Avenue from Hamilton to North Champion avenues. Additionally, plans to fix sidewalks, repair curbs and improve signals are also on the way.
