GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) -Green Bay Area Public Schools Superintendent Vicki Bayer is retiring at the end of the school year, the district announced Tuesday.
Her retirement is effective June 30th.
District officials say Bayer initially planned on returning to her role as deputy superintendent but she recommends the district leave that position unfilled to help solve future budget deficits.
Bayer has been superintendent since Claude Tiller Jr. resigned in February 2024. She was initially the interim superintendent before being given the full-time role in December while the district searched for a replacement.
The school board will start accepting applications for the job in December.
