BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Gov. Jeff Landry is calling for a statue of the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk to be put on LSU's campus.
Kirk was shot and killed on Sept. 10 while speaking at an event in Utah. A 22-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with the case.
In a short video posted on X, Landry, who attended the Arizona memorial service for Kirk in September with his son, challenged the LSU Board of Supervisors to find a place on campus for a statue in honor of Kirk. The governor spoke at a Turning Point USA event held in Baton Rouge Monday evening.
"There is no better warrior for free speech than Charlie Kirk, and we must continue his legacy on every campus in America," Landry wrote on X.
