How is the federal government shutdown, now in its 28th day, affecting air travel in Alabama?

The answer is not completely clear.

Almost 7,000 flights were delayed nationwide on Monday, according to Reuters, with air traffic controller absences and imposed ground delay programs affecting several airports around the country.

Flights in the southeast were delayed by “significant staffing shortages” at the Atlanta Terminal Radar Approach Control.
