PORTLAND, Ore. - Republican state lawmaker Christine Drazan has announced her candidacy for governor of Oregon. She declared her run Monday at a ship manufacturing facility in Portland, setting the stage for a heated Republican primary.

Drazan, who hails from Canby, is no stranger to the political arena. She previously ran for governor in 2022, where she and independent candidate Betsy Johnson lost to Democrat Tina Kotek. Now, Drazan is positioning herself as a frontrunner for the Republican ticket in the 2026 election.

During her announcement, Drazan criticized the current state of Oregon under Democratic leadership, citing heavy taxes and over-regulation as factors driving young people and businesses away.
