CLOVIS, N.M.-- District Attorney Quentin Ray announced on Tuesday morning that Jesus Anaya had pled guilty to Battery Upon a Police Officer and will be serving four years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections.

This sentence refers to an incident in January in which officers found Anaya, who had active felony warrants, in the 800 block of Merriwether Street. After discovering him hiding in an attic, Anaya resisted arrest and kicked an officer in the chest and stomach while being placed in a patrol car.

Anaya was then taken into custody and booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center.
