LUBBOCK, Texas--With the ongoing federal government shutdown, many Texas families are uncertain about the future, and the South Plains Food Bank (SPFB) is working hard to meet the growing demand for assistance. Although supplies are running low, the organization remains fully dedicated to supporting the community.

10,000 federal employees and 500 members of the armed forces reside within the service area and nearly 4,000 individuals are impacted by the shutdown. If the federal government remains closed, SNAP benefits will not be issued for November.
