NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The back-and-forth “blame game” continues amongst Democrats and Republicans nationally and in the Volunteer State as nearly 700,000 Tennesseans are set to lose Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Funding for SNAP will run out if the government shutdown continues through Saturday, November 1.
After dueling statements last week, Tennessee House Democrats are again calling out Gov. Bill Lee for not acting while other Republican governors are “stepping up to help their residents who could lose SNAP benefits this week.”
House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Ray Clemmons released the following statement:
“We applaud Gov. Youngkin and Gov. Landry for showing real leadership by declaring a state of emergency to cover the benefits for their state
