TWO HARBORS, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A record-breaking number of people will attend the Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Beacon Lighting and commemoration ceremony at Split Rock Lighthouse on Nov. 10.
A total of 2,000 in-person tickets were purchased, resulting in a sold out ceremony taking place on the 50th anniversary of the ship’s sinking in Lake Superior.
As large crowds are expected, those with tickets are encouraged to arrive early.
Off-site parking with shuttle service to and from the lighthouse will be available for visitors.
The ceremony will be streamed online for those unable to attend in-person.
Another event honoring the lives lost will be a special panel hosted by The Minnesota History Center titled “The Enduring Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald” on Nov. 20. The conversation
