DULUTH — In an unusual turn of events, a Hermantown official has asked the Duluth City Council to censure one of its own members for negative comments she made about him online.

Chad Ronchetti, Hermantown’s economic development director, appeared before the council Monday night to air his grievances and to ask that the body hold 1st District Councilor Wendy Durrwachter to account.

He described himself as “a neighbor who has had his professional reputation attacked by a member of this body.”

“Baseless and false accusations have been made against me by Councilor Durrwachter via social media,” said Ronchetti, who has been embroiled recently in controversy over a massive data center proposed in Hermantown.
