BATON ROUGE, La. — October is Menopause Awareness Month. A nurse practitioner from Baton Rouge General urges women to talk openly about symptoms they're experiencing.
Starting the conversation is an important first step. Menopause is a natural part of aging, but it can bring real changes to a woman’s health and quality of life.
“They think that, ‘Oh, this is just a normal thing that we have to go through,’ so they just suffer through it without bringing it up,” said Khaki Hazzlerigg, a nurse practitioner. Hazzlerigg said raising awareness can help women better understand what’s happening to their bodies and feel less alone during the transition.
