BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Jurors who have been deliberating in the trial of a Bakersfield woman accused of driving drunk and crashing into a house were sent home from court Tuesday morning after one of them didn't show.
The jury was told to return 9 a.m. Wednesday, when deliberations are expected to resume.
Jurors received the case of Madison Williams, charged with DUI causing injury, late last week after sitting through a trial that began Oct. 14.
Early on Sept. 14, 2022, Williams’ Mercedes-Benz C300 ran a stop sign and slammed into a house near Old River Road and Taft Highway. The car crashed into a room and caught fire. The roof collapsed and the home's occupants escaped with injuries.
A toddler suffered a fractured skull, broken left arm and broken ribs.
