PORTSMOUTH — Saturday’s Homecoming celebration at Portsmouth High School wasn’t like all the others, as it remembered one life while celebrating another.
Students paid tribute to Kelly Nevins, the 15-year-old who died in the tragic stairwell collapse during a private graduation party on June 7.
Crowning her courage: Victor Waycuilis and Aaron Delgado, this year’s PHS Homecoming king and queen, are introduced during halftime of Saturday’s football game against Chariho. Aaron lost her leg in the same accident at the PPACC and underwent multiple surgeries. She was roundly cheered by the crowd. Richard W. Dionne, Jr. However, they also celebrated a survivor’s strength by crowning Aaron Delgado, who lost a leg in the same accident, as Homecoming queen.
