WALDORF, Md. — One of Maryland’s top-ranked high school football teams, North Point High School, must forfeit its first seven games after an ineligible player was discovered on its roster.

According to Charles County Public Schools, the district launched an investigation after receiving a report that North Point – the state’s 3A/4A champion in 2024 – was fielding a player who didn’t have proper residency documentation.

District officials said that, according to Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association guidelines, anytime a student athlete is discovered to be attending a school without the proper documentation, the team must forfeit any games the student athlete has participated in.
