OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEVV) — As the need for assistance rises in Western Kentucky, local organizations are stepping up to help despite declining donations.
The Salvation Army in Owensboro has launched its "Feed Hope. Share Love." campaign to address the growing demand.
"You know usually we think about feeding people and we like to think about feeding people we're giving people some hope so the campaign is feed hope, share love," said Captain Victor Haworth with the Salvation Army in Owensboro.
The organization reported that demand is up, but donations have decreased. To make up for it, they have been buying food locally to complete meals, such as when they received a large donation of spaghetti sauce but no pasta.
