Dozens of climate protesters closed down part of a busy highway in the Netherlands on Tuesday, a day before the country goes to the polls in national election.
The demonstration in The Hauge was organized by Extinction Rebellion who called on voters to think about the climate as they cast their ballots on Wednesday.
"It is an important moment because the climate crisis is such a big threat to the Netherlands, and to all the countries in the world and all the people," said protester Lucas Willems
"It should be top of the priorities, so this should be top of mind when people vote tomorrow. Think about the climate, about the future."
The election campaign has largely focused on two main issues that also resonate throughout Europe — how to rein in the number of migrants and tackling a crisis of housing affordability and availability.
Issues such as the climate and defense spending have taken a back seat.
Some 60 protesters blocked the road close to the Dutch parliament, halting traffic.
They were detained by police who put them on a bus before driving them away.
