A man was left with a fractured skull after he was attacked by approximately 12 men during an amateur match in Liverpool.
Richard Agbasoga, who plays for Ormskirk West End in the Championship division of the Liverpool Premier League, sustained the gruesome injury during his side's clash against Calci FC last Saturday at Wavertree Sports Park.
The sickening incident occurred midway through the first half when an Ormskirk player was headbutted.
Following the headbutt, a melee ensued as spectators entered the field.
According to The Athletic, some of those individuals proceeded to chase Agbasoga, who is 27, around the field and attacked him.
The game was subsequently abandoned, with Ormskirk West End ahead 2-0.
