KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Blount Mansion Association kicked off its centennial celebration in the hopes of raising funds to preserve Blount Mansion for another 100 years.
The Blount Mansion was built before Tennessee was admitted into the union by one of our country’s founding fathers, William Blount. He was the Governor of the Southwest Territory, which included the land that would become Tennessee, and later served in the United States Senate before being expelled on charges of treason.
Executive Director David Hearnes says the history of Blount Mansion needs to be remembered.
