MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Safe Task Force has arrested a man accused of murdering a two-year-old during a drive-by shooting in April, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Jalen Thomas, 19, is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and employing a firearm with the intent to commit a felony.
The charges stem from the April 11 shooting death of two-year-old Jamarion Love’ll Payne, who was playing ball outside in Orange Mound when shots rang out in a drive-by shooting.
Payne was rushed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
USMS reports that Thomas was identified as the suspect and arrested on Tuesday on South Lauderdale Street near Walker Avenue.
