MCCOLL, S.C. (WBTW) -- McColl Police Chief Charles English this week obtained a key certification through the state that allows him to perform all law enforcement duties -- a pivotal step in bringing stability to the agency, town leaders said.
English, of Bennettsville, moved into the position July 1, ending a six-month vacancy following the November resignation of Bob Hale.
"This just isn't a title. It's a major step forward for our town. After nearly a year without a police department, having Chief English step up when we needed leadership most has meant everything," Mayor Robert Outlaw said in a Facebook post. "His dedication, hard work and heart for this community have helped lay the foundation for a stronger, safer McColl."
