LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Open Enrollment for Qualified Health Plans through Kynect open Saturday, but looming deadlines could change how much you pay.

Enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credits are set to expire at the end of the year, and could lead to large increases in health care premiums.

“It’s really stressful,” Louisville small business owner Ann Sipes said. “I’m losing sleep over it. I think all day about what we’re going to do if we lose health insurance.”

Congress would need to extend the credits past the Dec. 31 deadline. However, with a government shutdown currently threatening things like federal worker pay and SNAP benefits, people like Sipes have to adjust.
