WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — A local water usage advisory that was put into place last week is no longer in effect, as water quality levels in the Missouri River have returned to normal after a rather concerning few days.
As previously reported on KX News, the City of Williston had encouraged residents to conserve their water usage while the Williston Water Treatment Plant slowed its operations to deal with unusually high turbidity levels. In other words, the city's water was far dirtier and cloudier than normal.
The plant typically produces 7.5 million gallons of water per day, but under these conditions, that number went all the way down to two million, causing the city to scale back on its recommended water usage. City leaders say that these murky water conditions were likely connected to
