BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are set to end on November 1, as a result of the government shutdown. As of fiscal year 2024, just under 50,000 North Dakotans rely on SNAP benefits.
An official from Governor Kelly Armstrong's office told KX News, "We are exploring potential options to reduce the burden on North Dakotans." The Governor's Office has said repeatedly that they are looking at the situation, but there is not a plan set in stone yet.
The Governor's Office plans to release an advisory on the situation later today.
