COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has started identifying female skiers and snowboarders who will need to undergo gender tests before the Winter Olympics in Italy.

This follows a rule adopted last month by the Sports International Federation, requiring athletes competing in women’s sports to take a test for the Y chromosome found in males.

The testing process is expected to cost about $250 per athlete, with the World Athletics Foundation helping to offset some of these costs.

This rule mirrors a similar one adopted by the Dragon Boxing Federation earlier this year.

The Committee’s efforts are part of a broader attempt to comply with international standards while ensuring fair competition for all athletes.
