LOS ANGELES—Manager John Schneider said the Blue Jays prepared two starting lineups for Game 4 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium: one with George Springer at the top, and one without Springer.
Whether that was true or they were just trying to plant the idea that their leadoff hitter and sparkplug might be more available than he is, the starting nine Tuesday night did not include Springer, who left Monday’s 18-inning Jays loss in the seventh inning, grabbing at his right side after fouling off the first pitch he saw in his fourth at-bat.
Asked if an MRI done during Monday’s game showed an oblique strain or some other injury, Schneider said: “No, it just said hour to hour.”
