LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A federal judge has blocked proposed Trump administration cuts to K-12 mental health programs, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
The order came down Monday, from United States District Judge for the Western District of Washington Kymberly K. Evanson, a Biden appointee.
Michigan and 15 other states filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon back in June, accusing the federal agency of illegally pulling funding from mental health programs in K-12 schools around the country.
According to the lawsuit, Congress allocated $1 billion in funding for the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant Program and the School-Based Mental Health Services Grant Program back in 2022. One of the p
