BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- As the city presses forward with its plan to install 250 miles of protected bike lanes, one Brooklyn business community is fighting back.
A funeral director and a monsignor are among those leading the charge to reverse the redesign.
In a family’s darkest hour, Matthew Pinto says Cobble Hill Chapels has done its best to ease them down the road. But he says the city made that incredibly difficult.
Tuesday, Pinto said the NYC DOT installed stanchions on a painted pedestrian zone where, for 75 years, funeral directors have loaded hearses. He said it now eliminates a critical place to park on crowded Court Street, in favor of a protected bike lane that was also recently installed.
