GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Hurricane Melissa made landfall Tuesday afternoon in Jamaica as a Category 5 storm, leaving some in Greenville with loved ones on the island concerned for their safety.

Robert Lindsay works at Run A Boat Jamaican Kitchen in Winterville as the main cook. But as Hurricane Melissa makes landfall in Jamaica, there’s a lot more on his mind than customers’ orders.

“I’m cooking, and I’m constantly thinking about my phone ringing, and I’m wondering what I’m going to hear,” Lindsay said.

Lindsay is from Kingston, Jamaica, and now lives in eastern North Carolina. Many of his family and friends back home have been preparing for the major storm.
