WINOOSKI, Vt. (WCAX) - We’re taking a closer look at what would be the largest of the 13 proposed districts.

The Champlain Islands are proposed to join the Chittenden County and the Islands Area District.

It would be made up of more than 21,000 students, 50 public schools, and 23 towns.

On Tuesday night, dozens of community members took to Winooski’s school for a public comment session. Almost all of them spoke out against the plan and called it rushed.

People with kids in the Essex-Westford and Champlain Valley School districts, which have already been through mergers, were especially upset.
