MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont Senator Larry Hart has announced that he will be stepping down as of November 14th.
In his letter of resignation, the republican representing Orange County said, “...it became too difficult for me to accomplish any major goals outlined in my first Senate race... The time and commitment became too great for my health and emotional well-being.”
He went on to say that, as he has dealt with the personal tragedy of losing two loved ones to addiction—his daughter and grandchild—he said, “I will continue to try to serve in other roles that hopefully will help with addiction and the terrible toll it takes on Vermonters.”
With Hart’s resignation, two spots on the Senate Health and Welfare Committee are now vacant.
