A rare and stunning phenomenon set social media abuzz across Pakistan, as a mysterious colourful glow appeared over the skies of Quetta.

Contrary to initial speculations of a missile launch or other human activity, the spectacle was the result of a rare scientific phenomenon.

These were lenticular cloud formations over Koh-e-Murdaar, the eastern mountain range bordering Quetta city, just before sunrise.
