COLUMBUS, Ohio — It was a busy day for Columbus firefighters who battled two major blazes on Tuesday afternoon — a scrapyard fire on Alum Creek Drive and a house fire in south Columbus.
On Markison Avenue , off High Street, two firefighters were injured while responding to the house fire.
Columbus Fire learned about the blaze around 2:20 p.m. from a firefighter who happened to be nearby.
“One of our members was out in a station vehicle doing some city business for the fire department, and he was first on scene,” said Columbus Division of Fire Lt. Nick Davis. “He was able to arrive, assess the situation and found a dog that was tied to the front porch and he was able to rip one of the posts and get the dog to safety.”
